AIADMK demands crop loans, seeds and fertilizers to farmers

Tiruvarur, Sep 11 (UNI) The opposition party, AIADMK, staged a protest demonstration to condemn the alleged 'negligent' attitude of the DMK government towards the plight of farmers in the state here today.

AIADMK Agriculture wing Secretary Durai Govindarajan and Tiruvarur district secretary R Kamaraj led the demonstration.

Addressing party workers, they alleged that the DMK government had failed to provide crop loans through Cooperative banks to small and marginal farmers, who were facing hardships because of non-availability of finance for agriculture.

Moreover, due to scarcity of quality seeds and fertilisers, the ryots have to depend on open markets to get the inputs at exorbitant prices.

The demonstration was to draw the government's attention to the plight of the farmers and demand issuance of crop loans to them through Cooperative banks without any collateral guarantees and available seeds and fertilisers for small and marginal ryots.
