5 candidates in fray for post of Marathi Sahitya Sammelan

Aurangabad, Maharashtra, Sep 11 (UNI) Five candidates are in the fray for the coveted post of president of the 81st Akhil Bharatiya Marathi Sahitya Sammelan.

The Sammelan will he held at Sangli, though no date has been announced.

According to a statement issued by the returning officer Chandradeo Kawade, those in the race include five literary figures including Rajan Khan (Pune), Meena Prabhu (Mumbai), Madhukar Hatkananglekar (Sangli), Vasant Dahake (Nagpur) and Dashrath Bhosle (Pandharpur).

The returning officer said the process of dispatching the ballot papers to 792 voters had started and they would send back the ballot papers by October 25. The result would be announced on October 26.

Mr Kawade said apart from voters from Maharashtra, the literary figures from adjoining states including Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Goa and Gujarat, would also participate in the voting.
