Turkmenistan Airways plane rams into aero-bridge

Amritsar, Sep 10 (UNI) A Turkmenistan Airways flight rammed into an aero-bridge during takeoff at the Raja Sansi international airport here today, damaging the right wing of the aircraft.

The plane which was bound for Ashgabad had 160 passengers and six crew members on board Official sources at the airport said the right wing of the aircraft hit the aero-bridge while the plane was taking a turn on the runway. Preliminary inquries revealed that the ground staff did not move the aero-bridge to a safe distance afer the plane was cleared for takeoff by the air control tower.

However, all passengers and crew members were safe. The right wing of the air carrier was damaged and is being repaired by ground engineers.

The delayed flight will take off only after carrying out the necessary repairs. In case repairs are not possible by the engineers here, the flight will be cancelled, airport sources said.

The passengers of the flight were moved to a local hotel.
