Tsunami rehab works to be over by Sep 09: Minister

Thiruvananthapuram, Sep 10: Kerala Revenue Minister K P Rajendran today informed the State Assembly that rehabilitation works to the tune of Rs 1,441.75 crore in the tsunami-affected regions would be completed by September 2009.

Replying to a Calling Attention Motion, the Minister said eight million people in nine coastal districts of the state would derive benefit from the projects.

As part of the tsunami rehabilitation scheme, Rs 325 crore would be utilised for providing houses for 11,000 families and another Rs 131 crore for strengthening drinking water supply in coastal region.
