Tourism contribution to revenues up 804.08% in August

New Delhi, Sep 10 (UNI) The foreign exchange earnings for tourist inflow into the country grew a whopping 804.08 per cent at 659.33 million dollars in August 2007, as compared to 456.76 million dollars over the same period last year.

According to government data released here today, there has been a 14.8 per cent growth in the total foreign exchange earnings (in rupee terms) at Rs 2,694.73 crore in August this year compared to Rs 2125.47 crore during the corresponding period a year ago.

The tourist inflow into the country increased by 7.2 per cent to stand at 3,60,089 in August this year, against 3,04,387 during August 2006.
