In a statement here today, TMK President K M Munusamy also wanted the Union Government to send food and essential drugs to the affected Tamils in the island nation.
Turning to other issues, Mr Munusamy said the governments should check the abnormal increase in the prices of the building materials, especially cement.
He also requested the Tamil Nadu Government to construct a check dams across River Cauvery for storing flood water which now drains off into the sea.
Mr Munusamy also suggested desilting irrigation tanks in and around the river for diverting flood water.
The Tamil Nadu Government should also implement uniform education system for all at least from the next academic year, he said.
