Three students drown as boat capsize in Chenab

Doda, Sep 10 (UNI) Three students drowned as a boat capsized in Chenab river this morning at a remote village in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir, police said.

The victims, identified as Anchal Singh (16), Desa Devi (17), and Asha Devi (17)-- residents of Ghalgla village-- drowned while heading towards Government High School, Jathi, SSP (Doda) Manohar Singh said.

A special police team rushed to the spot for the rescue operation, Mr Singh informed, adding that the body of Anchal had been fished out of the river, while searches were on for the others.

According to sources, eight people were in the boat when it capsized in the middle of the river.
