Stir by ZSUM at Tamenglong

Imphal, Sep 10: The Zeliangrong Students Union, Manipur (ZSUM) has launched a stir at Tamenglong district to demand improvement of the roads in the district.

The members of the union picketed government offices and locked some other offices. The Union today demanded that the government transfer the works for the roads to the BRO/BRTF immediately.

Officials said talks might be held tomorrow to resolve the issue.

The government had stated that the BRO was not able to take up the road works as it did not have enough manpower. Hence, the state Public Works Department had to do the works.

The ZSUM, however, maintained that the roads should be repaired by the BRO only as they maintained quality.
