Sonia arrives in Kashmir for a day's visit

Srinagar, Sep 10: Unprecedented security arrangements have been put in place in Kashmir valley, particularly in the Dal Lake area, for day-long visit of UPA chairperson and Congress president Sonia Gandhi.

Mrs Gandhi arrived here today to attend a women's meet at Sher-i- Kashmir International Convention Complex (SKICC) on the bank of Dal Lake, which has been declared out of bounds for the civilian pedestrians, and commercial and non-commercial vehicles since late last night.

However, despite unprecedented security arrangements, militants casued a blast at Rainawari in the downtown area causing injuries to three CRPF women personnel who were on way to central jail.

The authorities have imposed a ban on plying of all commercial and non-commercial vehicles from Dalgate to Nishat till the function is over.
