Shell India opens 3 new fuel stations in Gujarat
Ahmedabad, Sep 10 (UNI) Shell India Marketing Private Limited (SIMPL) today launched three new retail fuel station outlets in Ahmedabad, Vadodara and Rajkot and marked it with the launch of its new diesel, Shell Diesel Extra.
With today's launch, the number of Shell fuel stations in the country has risen to 42, SIMPL managing director Surinderdeep Singh said while addressing mediapersons.
He said that Shell Diesel Extra will keep the engine clean and is aimed at the high-end SUV market and the new range of trucks coming into the transportation sector.
The company, which entered the auto-fuelling segment by settling up its first retail outlet in Bangalore in November 2004, has so far catered mainly to the market in peninsular India, Mr Singh said.
The entry into Gujarat is a major step forward for Shell which is one of the largest investors in the state. The Hazira port and LNG Terminal in Surat is regarded as a key FDI project, building critical gas infrastructure for the country, he said.
Shell's modern retail stations are eco-friendly and equipped with latest safety features, Mr Singh said. The fuel storage tanks are made of glass fibre reinforced plastic(GRP), incorporating double walled construction techniques which are unique in the industry in India, he said and added the pipelines are flexible without joints that prevent any chance of fuel leak.
