Mysore, Sep 10 (UNI) The rift between Mysore University Vice Chancellor Prof J Shashidhara Prasad and Registrar (Evaluation) A B Ibrahim came to the fore in front of mediapersons today.

Clarifying on the leakage of confidential records of awarding a Ph D to a candidate at a press conference here, Mr Prasad said he had already ordered an inquiry into the leakage of the records and the University Registrar (Evaluation) has to answer on it as the matter pertained to his office.

Going a step further, Mr Prasad said as per the University Act, he had already written a letter to the government to relieve Mr Ibrahim from the Varsity.

However, Mr Ibrahim, present at the press conference shot back and said he was appointed by the government and there was no such law in the University. The University should give valid reasons for such actions against him.

The Vice-Chancellor had written a letter to the Chief Secretary recently stating that he would be relieving Mr Ibrahim from his duties with effect from September 3.

However, the government had replied that he (registrar) should not be relieved till Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms (DPAR) passes an order on the issue.
