MP govt suspends two officials after IT raids

Bhopal, Sep 10 (UNI) The Madhya Pradesh government this evening suspended Director (Health) Yogiraj Sharma and the Bhopal Municipal Corporation's Additional Commissioner K K Singh Chouhan after Income Tax (IT) raids at the officials' premises unearthed assets disproportionate to their known sources of income, official sources said.

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan earlier told journalists that the government would take strict action in Sharma's case.

Undisclosed income of Rs 10.35 crore was surrendered by different people in the wake of IT raids at the premises of Sharma and his associates.

During search and seizure started on Friday, Rs 1.13 crore in Indian currency and foreign currency valued at Rs 4.5 lakh was seized, Chief Commissioner of Income Tax M K Moghe told reporters here today.

Recent raids at K K S Chouhan's premises led to seizing of Rs 4.82 lakh and documents relating to property and investment.
