INSAT-4CR successfully placed in near-geosynchronous orbit

Thiruvananthapuram, Sept 10 (UNI) Communication satellite INSAT-4CR, launched from Sriharikota on September two, has been successfully placed in near-geosynchronous orbit.

An official release said here today that the two antennas of the satellite which were used for transmit and receive functions, had been successfully deployed and the satellite was put in its final three axis stabilised mode.

The fifth and final orbit-raising operation was conducted from Master Control Facility (MCF) at Hassan on September 7.

The INSAT-4CR, put into orbit by GSLV-F04, was presently located at 51.8 degree E longitude and was expected to reach its final orbital position of 74 degtrr E by September 15. At that position, INSAT-4CR would be co-located with INSAT-3C, KALPANA-1 and EDUSAT.
