Hughes, Comat partner to roll out education services

Bangalore, Sep 10 (UNI) Hughes Communications and Comat today announced roll out of additional facilities including education programmes in 'Nemmadi Centres', the e-service centers that offers varied service in the rural areas in the state.

The two companies run 750 Nemmadi centres in 28 districts offering services that include both utilisation services as well as educational and vocational programmes.

Hughes, a leader in broadband satellite networks and Comat, the leader in enablement and delivery of e-Governence and information based services, now offer education programmes like Karnataka Common Entrance Test that would allow the rural youth to seek admissions in medical, dental, engineering and other professional courses in institutions within the state.

Speaking on the occasion Minister for Higher Education D H Shankara Murthy said Nemmadi had taken significant proportions by service Government services to over 50,000 citizens daily across the state.

"These centres have created over 1600 rural jobs and contributed to the socio-economic development in rural Karnataka. Introduction of education programmes will help propel inclusive growth in the right spirit. Access to quality tutorial services at village level would provide significant opportunities to rural students and help them achive par with their peers in cities," he added.

Mr Ravi Rangan, CEO of Comat said the company had established a unique blend of content and delivery that had allowed the concept of community services centres to become a reality.
