Govt to set up special courts for women
Bangalore, Sep 10 (UNI) The Karnataka Government is contemplating to set up special courts for speedy disposal of cases relating to sexual harassment against women, minister for Women and Child Welfare H K Kumaraswamy said today.
Talking to newspersons here, he said that of late the State was witnessing increase in the number of cases of atrocities against women. Such courts would be established at the districts level also, he added.
At least 135 cases related to sexual abuse on women and students were recorded last year, he added.
Stating that there was a need for a Central law to curb such incidents, he said he would write a letter to the Centre in this regard shortly.
