First snowfall on upper reaches, rain in plains in Kashmir
Srinagar, Sep 10 (UNI) The upper reaches in the Kashmir valley experienced first snowfall of the season while plains, including summer capital, Srinagar, had rains, resulting in a considerable drop in the temperature.
The upper reaches in world famous ski resort of Gulmarg had light snowfall this evening, resulting in cold, forcing tourists and others to wear woolens.
Sonmarg and Baltal upper reaches also experienced snowfall.
A report from holy Amarnath cave, Pisso top and Sheshnag also had snowfall.
The city and its adjoining areas experienced rains this evening after cloudy sky during the day, resulting in severe cold.
The weather in the Kashmir valley, which was hottest during this summer has started becoming colder. It is believed that weather in the Kashmir valley starts becoming colder after Janamasthami.
A traffic police official said that the 300-km-long Srinagar- Jammu national highway was through for traffic despite rains at several places on the road, linking the Kashmir valley with the rest of the country.
Interestingly the weather in Drass, the second coldest place in the world after Siberia, was normal.
