Dholpur meet to decide on extension of Chopra committe: Bainsala

Bhilwara, Sep 10 (UNI) Gujjar Reservation Action Committee chief Col Kirori Singh Bainsala today said he was yet to see the state government's letter seeking their opinion on extension of the term of the Chopra committee.

The committee is looking into the Gujjar community's demand for ST status.

''The decision to extend the term of the committee would be taken at the Gujjar 'mahapanchayat' on September 13 in Dholpur after its three-month term expires on the day before'', he said.

Col Bainsala said the contents of the letter would be studied and discussed with his collgeaues and then only they will reach any decision.

S C Derashri, secretary and commissioner of the Social, Law and Rights department had sent a letter to Col Bainsala seeking the community's opinion on extention of the term of the committee.

He said there were no plans of any seige or agitation but they would resort to peacful protests if the need arise.

Reposing full faith in Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje, Col Bainsala praised her positive approach and thinking towards the issue.

Col Bainsala was here to offer condolence to the bereaved families of those 86 people killed in the state's worst road accident till date in Rajsamand district.
