Corpus Fund with 1 Million for upgradation of Engineering faculties

Bangalore, Sep 10 (UNI) The Karnataka Government planning to set up a corpus fund of US Dollar One Million for upgradation of Engineering Faculties in the state with training in US Universities on latest technology, Minister for Higher Education D H Shankaramurthy said today.

Talking to newsmen here, he said that during his recent visit to the US he had proposed this plan to the Non-Resident Kannadigas there and they all had agreed to contribute towards the Corpus Fund.

The faculties would be sent to the Universities in the US in batches for training and about 200 faculties would get training, he added.

Mr Shankaramurthy said that the department has signed an MOU with BOSCH in April for upgrading Engineering Colleges at a cost of Rs 3.50 crore each with the Company contributing 40 per cent and balance by the respective Colleges.

The Company aims to recruit students from these Colleges to add its manpower, he added.
