Congress demands district status for Sadar Hills

Imphal, Sep 10 (UNI) The Sadar Hills District Congress Committee has demanded full revenue district status for Sadar Hills, Senapati district.

Committee President Zilthang Touthang said he and other Congress members called on Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh earlier and submitted a memorandum in connection with the issue.

He said the demand for Sadar Hills was not a new one but decades old, adding that the Manipur government had already taken decisions to grant district status and the State Cabinet had approved the decision.

He stated that some districts of Manipur were created on the basis of administrative convenience, but Sadar Hills was always ignored.

The demand for Sadar Hills is also based on administrative convenience and development of all communities in the proposed district, he said.
