CBI arrests NCL Director for taking Rs 30,000 bribe from driver
New Delhi, Sep 10 (UNI) The CBI today arrested a senior official of the Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL) for accepting a bribe of Rs 30,000 for re-categorising a medical case of colour blindness of a driver working in the Corporation and allowing him to continue to perform his duty.
Acting on the complaint of the driver, who is working with NCL, Singrauli, the CBI nabbed the Director (Personnel) and another NCL driver, who was acting as a conduit between the two.
The complainant alleged that the other driver who was working with NCL, Nighahi Project was demanding Rs one lakh bribe on behalf of the Director (Personnel), for re-categorising the medical case and allowing him to continue as driver. He had been asked to pay Rs 30,000 in advance.
The accused driver was trapped while accepting the bribe of Rs 30,000. Subsequently, he was allowed to deliver the amount to the Director (Personnel) who was caught red-handed accepting the bribe amount from him.
The office and residential premises of both the arrested people were searched by the CBI following the trap, a CBI press statement said.
