Bangalore family booked for cheating girl from Nagpur
Nagpur, Sep 10 (UNI) Police has registered a case of cheating against the Bangalore-based husband and in-laws of a girl from the city, for allegedly providing false information to solemnise her marriage.
The offence was registered after the girl, identified as Moniya Narayan Sarkar (30), lodged a complaint against her husband Sumitkumar Sunilkumar Shah, his father Sunilkumar Shah and mother Jharna Shah, all residents of Bangalore, according to a police press release.
In her complaint, Moniya said the three provided her false information over the e-mail about Sumitkumar's job, salary and property, the press release said.
The family claimed that Sumitkumar, who worked as a 'technical leader' in a software company, had an annual income of Rs 10 lakh and owned a flat in Bangalore, Moniya alleged.
Moniya said she got married to Sumitkumar on July 7 last, after which he took her passport, marriage certificate and other documents on the pretext that they had to go to Switzerland. However, when her father made enquiries later, he discovered that all the information that the family had given was false.
On the basis of her complaint, the police has registered an offence under Section 420 (cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property) and section 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), and Section 3 (giving or taking dowry) and section 4 (demanding dowry) of the Dowry Prohibition Act.
No arrests have been made so far.
