Assam resident among 2 killed and 25 injured in Kashmir

Srinagar, Sep 10 (UNI) Two persons, including an Assam resident, were killed and 25 others wounded in different road accidents in Kashmir Valley, a police spokesman said.

He said a vehicle turned turtle at Kanilwan, Bijbehara, in south Kashmir district of Anantnag resulting in injuries to 21 passengers.

The injured were admitted to hospital where one Shabir Ahmad Lone died.

Police said Kamaluddin, a resident of Assam, was killed on the spot and five others were injured when a Tata sumo vehicle, in which they were travelling, collided with another vehicle coming from opposite direction near Urnhall, in south Kashmir district of Anantnag. The injured were admitted to hospital.

It was narrow escape for the passengers after a vehicle in which they were travelling overturned near Peerniya in Uri and fell into river Jehlum. However, all the passengers escaped unhurt.

The house of one Ghulam Nabi Dar was gutted at Shilwat, Ganderbal. The fire was brought under control before it could spread to adjacent houses.
