2 killed, 10 hurt in AP flyover mishap

Hyderabad, Sep 10: Two persons were killed and ten injured when the scaffolding of an under construction flyover caved in near the busy Panjagutta Cross Roads last night.

Collectorate officials today identified the deceased as M B Kumar, a close associate of former Minister and TRS MLA Santhosh Reddy and Ankit Arora (28), a software professional from Haryana.

Five of the injured who underwent treatment were discharged from hospitals while the others were receiving medical attention at a private hospital in the city.

CISF and Railway personnel joined hundreds of rescue workers who were still struggling to clear the heavy scaffolding which obstructed the smooth flow of traffic since last night.

Meanwhile, Municipal Administration Minister K Ranga Rao, who visited the spot, said the government had constituted a five-member independent engineering committee to investigate the incident.

Action would be taken on the responsible after the committee submitted its report and assistance provided to victims' families.
