New Delhi, Sep 9 (UNI) Expressing elation over the Indian Hockey team's big win in the Asian Cup in Chennai, Bollywood superstar Shahrukh Khan today described them as the ''heroes of real life''.

''I am very happy at the glorious win of the Indian Hockey team in the Asia Cup,'' said King Khan in an interview to TV news channel when asked for his reaction on the team's triumph.

Shahrukh, who recently won acclaim across the country and worldwide for his brilliant portrayal of Hockey coach Kabir Khan in the recently-released 'Chak De India' who helps the Indian women's hockey team win the world Cup, said,''these are the heroes of real life.

India defeated Korea 7-2 in the final of the mens Asia Cup in Chennai to retain the trophy.

In fact, India has not lost even a single match in the tournament.

Asked if he felt that the great interest for Hockey generated by 'Chak De India' could in part be responsible for India's triumph, Shahrukh said,''I am happy if 'Chak De India' has contributed even an iota in generating enthusiasm for the sport in India. However, I feel it is the real effort of the boys (hockey players) that has brought India this glory.'' Critics feel, the success of 'Chak De India', which charts the journey of India's women hockey team from underdogs to winners of the Hockey World Cup, has led to a surge of interest in the sport of Hockey in India.

In fact, in recent weeks the title song of the film, sung by Sukhwinder Singh, has become a buzzword for sport in the country, invoked by even cricket players after their win in the Test series against England in Britain, which came after a gap of over three decades.
