NC reiterates independent inquiry of Charges levelled against VC

Jammu, Sep 9 (UNI) National Conference today reiterated its demand for an independent judicial inquiry to probe the various charges, including large-scale misappropriation of funds, levelled against Vice Chancellor of Jammu University.

Ex-Legislators of NC Sheikh Bashir Ahmed, Brij Mohan Sharma and Thakur Kashmira Singh, in a statement issued by NC headquarter, demanded a high-level probe in the university affairs, particularly large-scale misappropriation of funds.

''It is unfortunate that Jammu University's affairs have gone from bad to worse and academics are being ignored, favouritism is being done and funds are being swindled, there is un-rest among the students and faculty,'' they said.

''There is no academic calendar, no proper system of promotions and recruitment. The recent episode of declaration of the result of Part Ist has created worst type of history not just in the country but in the world,'' they said in a statement.

They further said this kind of attitude of the VC of involving the students, teachers and the Forum of Recognized Colleges shows how nervous and shaken the VC was with the exposure of his misdeeds.

The Jammu University is a public institution of great importance with which the sentiments of the people are attached these handful of people appealed to the Government to invoke its conscious to save this great institution from academic disaster.
