Talking to newspersons here, he said Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi had already requested the Union government to increase the Haj pilgrims quota for the state.

Referring to the 123 nuclear agreement, he said it was necessary for the country's growth, but at the same time the government should clear the doubts of the Left parties in this regard.

He appealed to Mr Karunanidhi to take necessary steps to permit hotels and small restaurants situated in Muslim dominated areas to remain open for whole night to enable them to break their Ramzan fast.

Mr Mohideen urged the Tamil Nadu Government to provide exclusive reservation for Muslims without any legal hurdles.

All the existing vacancies of Urdu teachers in the state should fill up immediately, he said.

He said the three-day state conference of the party would be held in Chennai from December 28.
