International conference on cyber crime in Delhi from Sep 12

New Delhi, Sep 9 (UNI) Senior police officers and forensic scientists from 40 countries, including India, will attend the seventh International Conference on Cyber Crime, to be held in the capital from September 12.

Organised by the Independent Police Support Group (IPSG), it would have participation from various international organisations including UNODC, Council of Europe, Europol, G8, United Nations Interregional Crime Research Institute (UNICRI), and various Central organisations of India along with various private and public sector companies like MIEL-eSecurity, eBay, TCS, Microsoft, SYMANTEC and C-DAC.

The conference, being hosted by the Central Bureau of Ivestigation, would be attended by about 100 participants from more than 40 countries.

The conference would be inaugurated by Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil on September 12 while Union Minister of State for Personnel and Parliamentary Affairs Suresh Pachouri will be the guest of honour.

The Secretary General Interpol Ronald K Noble and Director, CBI, Vijay Shanker will also participate in the conference.

It would have nine technical sessions spread over three days.

The sessions would focus on the emerging global threats, the international cooperation required to handle these threats and police response in tackling various forms of cyber crimes and cyber terrorist acts.

The discussions during these sessions would also focus on various mechanisms and frameworks which have been proposed from time to time for international cooperation in cyber crime investigations.

CBI, which is a nodal agency for training law enforcement officers in Cyber Crime Investigation in India and has the experience of investigating several cyber crimes with international ramifications, would be making a key presentation on ''International Cooperation in Cyber Crime Investigation''.

Also discussed at the conference will be technological counter-measures by the law enforcement agencies, including various initiatives in the area of cyber forensics.

One of the key focus areas of this conference would be the forging of strategic partnership by law enforcement agencies with various public and private sector organisations in tackling cyber crimes.

The valedictory address would be made by Union Minister for Communication and Information Technology A Raja on September 14.
