Human Rights Cell of TNCC to celebrate World Ahimsa Day on Oct 2

Tiruchirapalli, Sep 8 (UNI) The Human Rights Cell of Tamil Nadu Congress Committee (TNCC) today decided to celebrate 'World Ahimsa Day' on October 2 at Chennai by holding a seminar on Human Rights.

Tiruchirapalli district unit President of the cell Guru said in a press release that a resolution to this effect was adopted at the state executive meeting of the cell here today.

Congress President Sonia Gandhi would address the United Nations Organisations, which declared October 2 as 'World Ahimsa Day' the birthday of Mahatma Gandhi.

He said the meeting congratulated Congress President Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh for setting up Indo-US nuclear deal.

It had also decided to undertake a month long campaign from October 2 to propagate the achievements of the three year old UPA Government at the Centre led by Congress, he added.
