Gold, Silver up: Bombay Bullion Assn

Mumbai, Sep 9: Spot silver and gold inched up with the white metal rising by Rs 530 per kg and gold by Rs 325 per ten gm owing to fresh buying support, during the week ended September 8 on the Bombay Bullion Exchange.

Silver (0.999 fineness grade) opened downward on Monday last at Rs 16,955 per kg owing to absence of demand from domestic industrial users.

The white metal recorded a high at Rs 17,530 on Sep 8 and low at Rs 16,985 per kg on Sep 3. It closed at Rs 17,530 per kg with a gain of Rs 530 from its last weekend's close, traders said.

In the global market, silver closed at 12.52/12.60 US dollars per troy ounce during the week ended Sep 7.

Similarly, standard mint gold (99.5 fineness) also opened lower on Monday last at Rs 8,930 per ten gm followed by pure gold (99.9 fineness) at Rs 8,975 per ten gm on lack of demand from ornament makers.

The yellow metal registered a high at Rs 9,270 on Sep 8 and Rs 9,320 for pure gold on the same day.

Standard mint gold recorded a low of Rs 8,940 on Sep 3.

Likewise, pure gold also registered a low at Rs 8,990 on the same day.

Finally, both standard gold and pure gold closed at Rs 9,270 and Rs 9,320 , with a gain of Rs 325 each from their last close.

Meanwhile, in London, gold was USD 696.00/699.00 per troy ounce during the week ended Sep 7.
