Jammu, Sep 9 (UNI) The Jammu and Kashmir BJP today charged the Forest Minister with grabbing ancestral land of people in the state.

Addressing a press conference, BJP spokesman Ramesh Arora said the Forest Minister Taj-Mohi-u-Din Shah has grabbed 342 kanals of land belonging to Tilak Raj and Hem Raj at Lalu Shah Chak near Kanala Chak in Jammu District.

''The proprietors were offered an amount of Rs three lakh for their 342 kanals of ancestral land and on their refusal, the minister grabbed the land,'' Mr Arora alleged.

He further added that the land was snatched by the Minister in 1996 in the name of his three daughters Shubnam Taj, Nosheen Taj and Ashi Taj, who have settled abroad.

However, the victims approached Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad with their complaint but no action was taken, the BJP spokesman told media.

A recent complaint lodged by the Jammu Mayor Narinder Singh with State Accountability Commission (SAC) against senior officials of JKPCC for misappropriating Rs six crore was also dismissed after ''political pressure''.

''The complaint alleged embezzlement of crores in the renovation of JK House in New Delhi, which was not considered and dismissed,'' he alleged. Demanding investigations, the BJP man said that the government should show transparency against these allegations and action should be taken.
