Bhagat Singh's Jail Diary to be released on birth centenary

Ferozepur, Sep 9 (UNI) The diary, penned by Shahid Bhagat Singh during his incarceration at Lahore Central Jail from 1929-1931, will be released in New Delhi by his grandson Yadwinder Singh Sandhu on the revolutionary's 100th birth anniversary on September 28.

The 404-page Diary, ''The Idea of Freedom, Liberty and Revolution by the Jail Notes of Bhagat Singh'' will be a unique opportunity for the public to have an insight into the marty's philosophy, Yadwinder Singh told UNI.

He said Congress President Sonia Gandhi and her daughter Priyanka Vadhera had been requested to come along with the Chief Ministers of the States who will release the unique book in various state capitals.

The diary would be launched in Vancouver and Toronto in Canada, and California in US the same day.

So far, 1000 copies of the Jail Dairy have been published by Gurgaon-based Hope India Publication. The diary, which contains the autographs of the executed revolutionary and his associate, B K Datt, also has a patriotic lyric which depicts Bhagat Singh's intense love for the country, he said.

The diary was handed over to Bhagat Singh's younger brother Kulbir Singh by the Jailor of Lahore Central Jail on March 29,1931, Mr Singh said. He further said the diary has an extensive comparison of economy and democratic setup of India with US.

Mr Singh added that his father Babar Singh and Prof K C Yadav, a noted historian of Kurshshetra University had contributed immensely in the publishing of the diary.
