Youth held for attempting to rape minor girl

Kolhapur, Sep 8 (UNI) An absconding youth was today arrested by the police from Hatkanangale bus stand in the district for allegedly attempting to rape a minor on August 31.

The arrested youth has been identified as Tanaji Laxman Mane (26), a resident of Korochi suburb in Ichalkaranji.

Mane forcefully picked-up the girl, a resident of same locality, and took her to a nearby sugarcane field where he unsuccessfully attempted to rape her on August 31, police said.

As the girl started shouting for help, Mane disappeared from the spot and was absconding, they added.
