Uninterrupted power supply during Ramzan in Kashmir
Srinagar, Sep 8(UNI) Jammu and Kashmir government has decided to provide uninterrupted power supply to people in the Kashmir valley during the holy fasting month of Ramzan, starting from Thursday or Friday.
Reviewing the overall measurs for ensuing the 24-hour power supply during the holy month, a high level meeting chaired by minister for power Nawang Rigzin Jora also discussed the overall power scenario in the valley.
The Power Development Department (PDD) has realized Rs 60.45 crores from the consumers so far as electric tariff which is about 70 per cent above the corresponding month last year.
Besides, 1,45,356 meters have been installed in various areas of Kashmir Valley, an official spokesman said today.
He said a fine to the tune of Rs 82.63 lakh has also been recovered from the defaulting consumers.
Mr Jora expressed upon all concerned officers to ensure uninterrupted power supply during the holy month. However, he appealed to people to desist from misusing the power and use electricity judiciously.
He said that unnecessary interruption in the power supply in the metered areas is being avoided. However due to repairs, alignment and improving the distribution system interruptions do occur.
