'Sting' Channel CEO questioned, police to seek Uma's custody

New Delhi, Sep 8 (UNI) Police today questioned the CEO of the TV channel 'live India' which aired the fake sting operation depicting a government school teacher pushing students into prostitution, even as it is exploring the possibility to seek Uma Khurana's custody to get her voice sample.

Sudhir Chaudhary, CEO 'Live India', was questioned for about one and a half hours after being summoned this afternoon, Delhi Police spokesman Rajan Bhagat said.

''He told the police that the reporter, Prakash Singh, did not take the channel into confidence about any of his 'manipulations' or that he knew the girl or her identity.'' Instead, he said she was a hooker, as his 'operation' showed, he said.

Mr Bhagat said the Delhi Police would seek ''production warrant'' of Uma Khurana in order to get her voice sample, which would be matched with that in the video recording.

''This we are doing as we want to go into all aspects of the case before the case is withdrawn against her.'' Meanwhile, earlier in the day a city court sent the reporter, involved in the episode, to seven-day judicial custody.

Singh was arrested yesterday by Crime Branch sleuths, a day after the 'victim' Rashmi was arrested.

Working for 'Live India' channel, Prakash Singh had shown Uma Khurana, a mathematics teacher of the Sarvodaya Kanya Vidyalaya, in the sting as running a syndicate of prostitution and making pornographic films, featuring her present and former girl students.

The airing of the episode had led to mob violence near Turkman Gate in Central Delhi's Daryaganj area on August 30.

So far, four people have been arrested in the case and all of them are presently in judicial custody.
