New Delhi, Sep 8 (UNI) Janata Party President Subramanian Swamy today said Prime Minister Manmohan Singh must seek an apology from CPI (M) General Secretary Prakash Karat in the wake of the Left leader's ''insunuatory'' statement that the PM was more committed to US President George Bush than the UPA's Common Minimum Programme.

Dr Swamy, in a statement, said the PM was in office because of the support from the Left Parties' and now he was being targeted by them as an ''American stooge''.

''It should be an unbearable insult for any self respecting person,'' he added.

He alleged that the controversy surrounding the nuclear deal in which the Congress and the Left Parties had taken a contradictory stand was a '''proxy war'' between the US and the China.

''The US wants India to be a reliable and predictable ally with concubine status under the 123 Agreement while China is against the US in reaching out its strategic underbelly -- Tibet,'' Dr Swamy added.

The best solution of the impasse would be to dissolve the Lok Sabha and hold mid-term polls, he opined.
