Patel promises international flights for Andamans
Port Blair, Sep 8 (UNI) Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel today promised that within the next six months international flights will be operating from Port Blair's International Airport.
Laying the foundation for infrastructure development of Veer Savarkar International airport here, Mr Patel said in the next six months these islands would have connectivity with Bangkok, Singapore and other international destinations.
Port Blair's Veer Savarkar International Airport had already been declared an International Airport a few months back by the Centre to promote tourism and increase connectivity to these islands with the rest of the world.
The Minister congratulated the Airport Authority of India (AAI) for selecting the Port Blair airport among the 35 other non-metro airports across the country for modernisation.
''Andaman has a lot to offer to tourists like some other neighbouring countries, and to get international tourists we need to have proper infrastructure first, '' he stated.
The AAI was building infrastructure for Port Blair airport and constructing four new parking bays in addition to the present two parking bays.
