Mayor asks BMC to repair roads till Sept 12
Mumbai, Sep 8 (UNI) Mumbai Mayor Shubha Raul has asked the administration of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) to repair the city roads and fill up the pot-holes before Ganeshotsav festival, which starts on September 15.
The tall claims made by the BMC that the city roads are free of pot-holes, forced the Mayor to take stock of the roads personally last night.
Mrs Raul, along with some of her activists and BMC Chief Engineer (road and traffic) D L Shinde, toured the city and found that many of the pot-holes in the road had not been filled. She blamed the Mumbai Metropolitan Road Development Authority (MMRDA) and the BMC for such condition of the roads.
Yesterday, Additional Municipal Commissioner Kishore Gajbeye said the BMC had filled more than 99 per cent of the pot-holes in the city roads and the remaining would be filled soon.
However, the Mayor was not satisfied with the nature of repair work done on the city roads and asked the concerned officials to present her a daily report on the progress of repairs.
She toured the city till early today and told Mr Shinde that care must be taken to repair the roads in the city and fill up the pot-holes latest by September 12 or 13.
