Mann's party name changed to SAD (A) officially

Fatehgarh Sahib, Sep 8 (UNI) Former Member Parliament Simranjit Singh Mann's political party registered as Shiromani Akali Dal (Simranjit Singh Mann), will now officially be Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar).

This was decided today in the Executive Committee meeting of the party, which was held under the presidentship of Mann at his Quila Harnam Singh residence in this district.

During the meeting, the party spokesperson and general secretary Bhai Ram Singh presented a resolution to change the official name of the party, which was endorsed by former MP and the party senior vice- president Dhian Singh Mand.

The party was registered in the name of Shiromani Akali Dal Simranjit Singh Mann) in November, 1989 with Election Commission but on May 1, 1994 after the approval of Sikh leadership at Akal Takht, the name of Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) was given to party and from that period the party's name is used as SAD (Amritsar) in media and other works.

It was decided that now Bhai Ram Singh and newly-appointed political advisor of the party Iqbal Singh Tiwana would take up this matter with the Election Commission.
