Nashik, Sep 8 (UNI) The first anniversary of bomb blasts that rocked Malegaon last year was observed in the powerloom town today.

On September 8, 2006, three bomb blasts occurred at different places in Malegaon, killing 31 people and injuring more than 300.

The blasts occurred near a mosque-cum-graveyard, Mushaira Chowk and Ayesha Nagar locality.

In protest against the blasts, Kul Jamati Tanjeem, a Muslim organisation here, observed 'Black Day' today. It also held a sit-in agitation wearing black ribbons at Mashaoorat chowk.

A prayer meeting to pay tributes to the blast victims was held at Lord Mahadev temple in Sangameshwar area of Malegaon.

In some parts of the powerloom town, citzens unfurled black flags at their houses.
