Khandu stresses on timely completion of projects

Itanagar, Sep 7 (UNI) Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Dorjee Khandu today stressed on timely completion of projects in the state to avoid escalation of time and costs.

Addressing the chief engineers of all the works departments here, the Chief Minister exhorted the technocrats to personally visit sites and supervise works so that timely completion and work quality of all the pending projects could be maintained.

''Timely completion and work quality are needs of the hour,'' Mr Khandu said and added, '' as departmental heads, the chief engineers better understand the priorities, which need to be addressed by the department so that the tempo of development should be balanced in every part of the state.'' Assuring his support in the proper implementation of the projects, the Chief Minister urged the officers to cooperate with the state government to help develop the state.

''Inculcate a sense of accountability and help me lessen the level of corruption,'' he added.

Referring to the incomplete projects and pending ones, the Chief Minister directed the officials to provide him with a complete report on such projects within ten days along with district-wise, sector-wise and location-wise references.

He, however, maintained that there should be commitment from all the departments so that the projects be completed in time.

He further assured that he would approach UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and other concerned persons for a package or a one time grant to address the lingering problems of the state.

Informing that he would soon invite a central team to assess the damage caused due to flood in October, the Chief Minister called upon all the concerned departments and district administration to be ready with their paperwork's.

Reiterating his point on state share, Mr Khandu said all the schemes or projects should be routed through the Planning department. Stating that appointment should be made according to the prescribed norms and every codal formality should be strictly followed, the Chief Minister asked all the departments for submitting a complete report with photographs of all the employees in both plan and non-plan wings so that the government could work out a policy on excess manpower.

Parliamentary Secretary (Planning) Tsewang Dhondup, Development Commissioner (Planning) Kewal K Sharma, Secretary Planning, S P Lokhande, Joint Director, Planning C L Tungkhary along with Chief engineers of PWD, Rural Works Department (RWD), Public Health Engineering Department (PHED), Urban Development Department (UD), Power, Electrical, Hydropower and Water Resources attended the meeting, sources added.
