Green Building Congress from Sep 19 to 22

Chennai, Sep 8 (UNI) The fifth edition of 'Green Building Congress', aimed at creating an awareness on environmental-friendly buildings and promote eco-friendly building materials, and equipment would be held here from September 19 to 22.

Indian Green Building Council Chairman Prem C Jain told newspersons here yesterday that about 800 architects, builders and contractors would participate in the Congress, organised by the CII.

An exhibition on green products (recyclable and non-toxic materials) would be held along with the event and an international conference on September 20 and 21, he said.

On display at the expo are building insulation materials,sky shade, software for architectural design, water treatment process, energy saving equipment, non-timberwood products and welding equipment for solar installation.

The council was aiming to reach 1,000 green buildings and facilitate tapping green building materials market to Rs 1,500 crore by 2010.
