Farmers watch movie as part of power project agitation

Mysore, Sep 8 (UNI) Hundreds of farmers on agitation against a thermal power plant in Chamalapura were brought to the city to watch a Kannada movie to educate them on the issue they were fighting.

They watched Vishuvardhan starrer-Mathad Mathadu Mallige-in a theatre, which held the show today exclusively for the farmers.

The farmers travelled to the city from various villages in and around Chamalapura in tractors, tempos and bullock carts to watch the movie dealing with ryots' problems.

KRRS President K S Puttaniah who led the farmers said it was hoped the film would inspire the farmers to intensify the agitation further against the project.

Movie Director Nagathihalli Chandrashekhar also watched the movie along with the farmers.

The farmers had parked a number of tractors, auto rickshaws and other vehicles on the roadside without causing disruption to the traffic in the city.

After the movie, a meeting was held at the theatre complex and the farmers then took a rally to the Deputy Commissioner's Office where they submitted a memorandum.
