Debt-ridden man stabs wife and children in HP

Hamirpur, Sep 8 (UNI) A debt-ridden man today stabbed his wife to death and injured his two children in a village in Hamirpur district of Himachal Pradesh, police sources said.

Rakesh Kumar injured both his children when they tried to protect their mother, Praveen, 32, who was being beaten by him in Panjyai village of the district early today following an altercation.

The sources said a case has been registered under Sections of the 302 and 307 of Indian Penal Code (IPC) against the man.

The injured children have been admitted to a government hospital here where the doctors described their condition stable.

The sources said Rakesh had taken loans from diferrent people and was unable to repay them. This was the main reason of his attack on wife, they claimed.

In another incident, a college-going boy and girl committed suicide in Ukhli village of the district, the police sources said.

Manoj and Puja, class fellows, were found dead with live power wires wrapped around their bodies in a house in the village, the sources said.

Both were students of B.A. first year at Ghumarwin College of Bilaspur district.

Their bodies have been sent for post mortem examination, the sources said adding that investigations were on to ascertain the reason behind the suicide.
