Congress-affiliated NSUI victorious in DUSU polls
New Delhi, Sept 8 (UNI) The Congress-affiliated National Students' Union of India (NSUI) today bagged all the four top positions of the Delhi University Students Union (DUSU) elections.
Routing the main rival BJP-backed ABVP, NSUI candidates Amrita Bahri was elected DUSU president and Devraj Talan the vice president.
While Manish Choudhary was elected as the general secretary, Khushbo Sharma emerged victorious for the post of joint secretary, Chief Election Officer Gurmeet Singh said.
As many as 32 candidates were contesting the elections, polling for which was held yesterday, through electronic voting machines.
The elections registered about 26 per cent voter turnout.
The polling had passed off peacefully without any untoward incident, he added. The total number of voters was about 70,000.
Voting for regular students was held from 0830 hrs to 1130 hrs and for students attending evening classes from 1600 hrs to 1900 hrs.
Prof Singh said polling in the evening phase was very low compared to that in the morning.
