Bomb hoax on Kingfisher's Guwahati-Mumbai-Indore flight
Mumbai, Sep 8 (UNI) A bomb threat aboard Kingfisher Airlines' Guwahati-Mumbai-Indore flight today turned out to be a hoax after the police conducted a thorough search of the aircraft, delaying the flight by nearly an hour.
The flight, which arrived here earlier in the day from Guwahati at 1810 hrs with 86 passengers on board, was to depart at 1840 hrs.
The airlines call centre in Delhi received an anonymous call saying a bomb had been placed on board the flight IT 353 departing Mumbai for Indore with 75 passengers. Thereafter, it was taken to a secluded place for a search, where a Bomb Detection and Disposal squad conducted a thorough search of the aircraft and found nothing in it, according to an airlines's spokesperson.
Accordingly, the airport authorities were informed of the call immediately. And as soon as the flight landed, the BDD squad cordoned off the plane and evacuated the passengers, he said.
''After a thorough search of the baggage of both the incoming and outgoing passengers and anti-sabotage check, the flight was cleared for take off by the airport officials,'' he said, adding finally, it took off at 1935 hrs.
