Patna, Sep 8 (UNI) The Bihar government has directed all nationalised banks in the state to prepare ''special credit scheme'' for the flood victims and provide loans to them within a specific time period.

Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi told newspersons here today that directives had been issued for constitution of Special Task Force(STF) under the chairmanship of District Magistrates (DM) in the flood-ravaged districts of the state to monitor implementation of the scheme.

The district level heads of various departments and representatives of the Banks operating in the area would be among other members of the STF, he stated.

The state government had directed the STF to hold weekly meetings for the next three months during which the implementation of the scheme would be reviewed, he said.

The moratorium on realisation of loans had been made imposed in the flood-affected areas and farmers would have the facilities to opt for rescheduling of payments of their loans, he added.

Mr Modi said the Banks had been directed to provide job cards to eligible farmers expeditiously so that they could use it in procuring loans from the Banks and other financial institutions.

Banks had also been directed to provide loans varying from Rs 500 to Rs 10,000 to daily wage earners, he informed.
