ADGP orders enquiry into complaints on police nexus
Belgaum, Sep 8 (UNI) Karnataka Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Shankar Bidri today ordered a departmental inquiry following complaints that some police officials had failed to take timely action against ''don-turned-politician'' Pravin Shintre, who was killed by the police in an encounter on September 6.
Talking to newspersons here, Mr Bidri said some officials were found to be lenient towards Shintre and strict action would be initiated against them.
He, however, lauded the city police team for successfully tracing Shintre.
He said two members of the gang, who were absconding, would be nabbed soon.
Shintre, a notorious 'supari' killer, was accused of committing six murders during the last 18 months, including the rape and murder of a 28-year-old housewife in the city on August 13.
