300 bed hospital coming up in south Kashmir

Srinagar, Sep 8: In order to provide an upgraded and extensive medicare to the people of south Kashmir, Jammu and Kashmir government has decided to construct a 300-bed new district hospital at Anantnag at a cost of Rs 57 crores.

The work on the hospital will commence from September 15 and will be to be completed in three years, a high level meeting chaired by Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad was told by JKPCC officials.

He said Rs 5 crore had already been released for the Rs 57 crore project.

The Chief Minister told the JKPCC officers to construct the building in phases to complete and make operational one wing each year so that the patients do not have to wait for three years for completion of the whole project to avail specialised treatment and diagnostic facilities.

He said besides landscaping the premises, fast growing ornamental and shade trees should also be planted simultaneously.

Spread over 60 kanals, the four-storey hospital building would have 2 lakh square feet built up area and state-of-the-art diagnostic and disease management facilities.

The three wings of the hospital would provide facilities like CT Scan, MRI, X-ray, Ultrasound, Colour Doppler, Mamography, Bonedensity, Physiotherapy, OPD with sample collection, procedure room, treatment room and sterile store.

The wards would be in the first and second floors while ICU and operation theatres would be in the third floor.

The hospital would have the provision of private rooms as well.
