Uttarakhand gangster killed in police firing

Dehradun, Sep 7 (UNI) An interstate gangster Suresh Tyagi was killed in a shoot out by a team of Special Cell and Special Operation Group today in Haridwar district of Uttarakhand.

According to an official release from DIG Garhwal Range, on a tip off a police team led by ACP Sanjeev Yadav intercepted Tyagi at Tibri Chowk at around 0725 hrs but he tried to ran away on his motorcycle. After some time he left the vehicle and started running towards a jungle while firing on the police team.

Police fired on him in retaliation and as he fell down after being shot, they took him to a hospital where he was declared brought dead.

Police recovered one .32 bore pistol along with cartridges from his possession.

Tyagi, a native of Sonipat, Haryana, was involved in crimes like murder, robberies, extortion, car jacking, vehicle thefts in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Haryana.

He was arrested several times in the past and carried reward of Rs 20,000 declared by IGP Uttarakhand, the release said.
