Ramoji Film city demolition: Govt accused of taking vengeance
Hyderabad, Sep 7 (UNI) The management of Ramoji Film City (RFC), owned by a noted media baron, today accused the Andhra Pradesh Government of taking vengeance and demolishing some of its structures without prior notice.
Addressing a press conference at the site where the revenue authorities carried out demolition of some of the structures, RFC Managing Director A Ramamohana Rao claimed that their property comprised no ''assigned land'' as alleged by the government.
He said the RFC group had purchased 1,800 acre of land from farmers after due verification of records and utmost care had been taken to ensure that only ''hassle-free'' land was purchased from rightful title-holders.
Mr Rao recalled that following an appeal for the lands' conversion into non-agricultural land, the Rangareddy district Collector had issued an order, dated May 2, 2001, in this regard.
The RFC had moved the High Court, which had directed the authorites to stop demolition in 4.25 acre of land in survey number 301 of Anjapur village, which the government claimed as ''assigned land''. Listing out the previous transactions on the said land, he said RFC had puchased the land from the legal heirs of the rightful owners in 1993 after verifying the records.
